The kickstART2 Festival of Disability Arts and Culture will run September 16th to 19th, 2004 at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre.
We're forming the kickstART2 Choir to perform for the opening and closing ceremonies, and we're inviting you to join us for an amazing musical experience!
We are are looking for enthusiastic singers, of all skill levels, who can come to Tuesday evening rehearsals throughout the Summer, and then perform at kickstART2.
Choir leaders Susan Summers and Patti Powell will be teaching a varied selection of songs, through July and August. Material will include Russian, African and Maori songs; see www.s4dac.org for the song list. Then the award-winning and charismatic Australian musical director, Pat Rix, is returning by popular demand, for an intensive from September 7th to 19th.
Vancouver’s Swamp Angels Community Choir, a back up band put together by Dorothy Dittrich, and special guests will rock the kickstART2 Festival, the only event of its kind in Canada. With your help, it's going to shine!
kickstART2 Choir rehearsals will take place at:
Vancouver Elks Lodge #1, 2177 West 42nd Avenue - close to 41st and West
Boulevard.
Tuesdays, 7 to 9 pm on:
July 6th, 13th, 20th,and 27th, August 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st
Then with Pat Rix from 7 to 9 pm on:
Tuesday - September 7th, Wednesday - September 8th, Thursday - September
9th
Tuesday - September 14th, Wednesday - September 15th (dress rehearsal)
Tech Run-through at the Roundhouse:
Thursday, September 16th - afternoon
Opening Ceremony Performance:
Thursday, September 16th - evening
Closing Ceremony Performance:
Sunday, September 19th - afternoon
