Born and raised in Vancouver BC, Cheryl Hutchinson graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Music Composition Degree. Cheryl composes both acoustic and electro-acoustic works, including music for a number of videos by local disability organizations. Her works have been performed locally, nationally and internationally. Highlights include kickstART! in 2001; GATEways Project 2000, Vienna Austria; winning third prize in the electro-acoustic category of the 1999 SOCAN Competition for young composers; and the 1999 VSO Jean Coulthard reading session for emerging composers.
