Inside Out Integrated Theatre first came out as part of a University of Calgary Rehabilitation Studies Program. Since that time it has seperated from the University and has been serving the disability community with a variety of groups. Some with the opportunity to simply explore, grow and express themselves through Developmental drama and some with the opportunity to take the next step into performance.
Up until the last two years the company has been doing a spring show every year. Today there is an ever-increasing demand by interest groups and conferences and the group is doing as many as a dozen performances per year. In January 2001, Inside out participated in Calgary’s High Performance Rodeo (a mainstream theatre festival), and in August 2001 participated in kickstART!’s inaugural celebration of disability arts and culture.
