Alistair Green and Garry Curry are two quadriplegic stone sculptors. They were injured in separate motor vehicle accidents in July 1991, both were in their early 20s. Alistair and Garry started sculpting together in 1995 and have designed many devices to make life and art accessible. At kickstART2 Alistair and Garry will introduce other disabled people to an accessible studio and tools. The “Society of Disabled Artists” focuses on making art accessible by user-friendly workstations and customized tools. The presentation revisits the career Alistair and Garry have built from 1995 to 2004: how they became stone sculptors, the barriers they had to overcome, the tools they have designed and the society they have founded.
