acrylic paint on canvas

Echoing classroom taunts, Supina’s acrylics on canvas bore into the emotional landscape of cognitively disabled children. Subjects glare from an uncluttered background, a mere colour, a limited awareness of reality.

Softness outlines faces in luminescence.Contrasting their dreary physical existence, ministering angels serve them. In defiance, vivacious figures portray a will to survive prolonged torment and unrelenting alienation.

The marginalization of these powerless souls induces a free fall into fantasy, escape from the world’s ruthless affront to their inner dignity. In spirit, these invisibly “handicapped” children transcend the mundane, unfettered into invisible expanses. Unseen disabilities become portals to the unseen.
